30daychallenge (Day 24)

Selfportrait III with Ana

Ana loved the brilliant weather we had in Spain. Her little feet could at last enjoy the sun after all winter being covered by socks. Next to her lies her tacky mouse (as named by me) which she has adored since it came to live with us. What I like about this photo is the gradient of light (is that proper English?) and how the ground in overexposed while Ana is underexposed.

30daychallenge (Day 21)

Shadow

I've been playing again with shadows today. Since the weather is pretty awful here (where is Spring?????????????) I had to wait until it was dark to take some photos in the brightest place in the house: the bathroom. Not sure about this one... but it's done now.

30daychallenge (Day 17)

I'm staring at you

Well... forget about my previous photo. I had this brilliant idea but it went all wrong as I couldn't find what I wanted to photograph. Much easier to shoot at what you come across rather than finding the tangible reality of what you've got in your head. Never mind.
So... when I looked around... this is what I found staring right in front of me in my living room. Are his eyes moving or is it just me?

30daychallenge (Day 15)

Ana on Ana

I had to come back to this photo (Day 1). I took this shot as I was looking at all the photos I've taken so far and felt I had to reinterpret it. Not much effort involved, though.

30daychallenge (Day 14)

Carrots

Day 8 in the weaning process and Ana has taken to carrots very well. Thanks to Hannah's guidance and my very basic sewing skills, Ana can eat in style: admire the hand made bib.

30daychallenge (Day 11)

Girl on a hunt

Esme was so excited on Easter Sunday. I hope I captured it in this photo. I wish I had some good photos of her looking after and playing with Ana. She was so caring and warm to her in that sort of big cousin to small cousin sort of way. In here I like how her egg bucket at the front and Laurie's feet at the back were cut off. All intended of course! And she looks so pretty with her blond curly hair (just as I'd love mine to be!)

30daychallenge (Day 10)

Handsome boy

Laurie has a beautiful smile but I love this close-up of him. It's hard to have him looking this serious as he is such a lively happy little boy. I really like his personality, and he is great taking lots of kisses and cuddles from me.

30daychallenge (Day 9)

Lucie on the spot

Lucie is such a night little baby. It's great she is one of us. Who wants to be a morning person! Here she is keeping herself busy while Hannah is making a beautiful doll and robot for Esme and Laurie. See Hannah's blog to see them. They are brilliant!http://www.gentlytiptoe.blogspot.com

30daychallenge (Day 8)

Close-up

I love close-ups. I just can't help it. My poor Ana must be fed up as she has to put up with me and my flash almost everyday. At least this time she had the reward of chewing the camara strap!

30daychallenge (Day 7)

I found the perfect toy!

OK, I know this is outside the rules, but after all they were my own rules and there's nothing I like more than transgressing boundaries. It's more fun! Ana is chewing this thingy I bought in this lovely shop in Bradford upon Avon. I wanted to buy everything there. Got a few little things for Esme, Laurie and Lucie. Anyway, I think she is going to love this because while she chew and chew (and she did for ages) she did not cry once! Success, I found the perfect toy!

30daychallenge (Day 6)

Ana playing with blocks

Very difficult to photopraph Ana while she was playing. This is one of the few shots that came out well. Under those circumstances I'm quite happy with the composition here. I think it works.

30daychallenge (Day 5)

... and after

Not quite 15 minutes, but I've been meaning to do this for ages: Colour coding books. Much better to look at than when organised by author or topic. Alec called me philistine for it! But, hey, if it's beautiful to look at, then it's worthy. I certainly enjoy the end result.

30daychallenge (Day 4)

Before...

Messy! This has been bothering me for ages, but with so many other things to do, it seemed like tidying up books wasn't a priority. Now that I'm spending more time in this room I can't leave it any longer. It's annoying me! I specially like the fact that Alec disaproves of me doing this small task. He'll much prefer me to be... finishing other "started and not finished jobs". I'll only take 15 minutes and I have an idea.

30daychallenge (Day 3)

Blue wholepunch

I think I can even remember when I bought this. Well, sort of. I certaintly was at school. Probably at Severo Ochoa, can you believe it? It's also one of the first things I brought from Spain. I feel about it like Alec must feel about his posessions. I know it's old and rusty and hardly punches, but it works so why would I want to buy a new, more robust one? It gives me comfort this little object. I wish I had the same relationship with all my other things: Once I have one, don't buy another. Even if it's better, newer, and above all, at a very good price!

Nice turquoise blue to link with the previous photo, I thought. And I only took one frame! Alec, you should be pleased with my lack of virtual clutter today!

30daychallenge (Day 2)

Sort of abstract

I mean I know what this is, but could anybody else? I like the end result: nice cool blues and warm oranges. I'm into orange at the moment. Well, I've always been but I think I've been in denial, like "Oh, no My favourite colour is red", which it is, but then why do I have orange shoes, quite a few orange clothes and even some stuff in the house that colour? Um..., I just should admit I like it.

I took loads of photos and found hard to decide which one to choose. This one won.

30daychallenge (Day 1: 6 April 2006)

My beautiful Ana

Ana looks soooooooooooooo beautiful here! I love her eyes, and the fact that they look more green than the actual blue that they are (me recuerda a papa). I love the fact that she is giving me the "mummy look" (not to be confused with the much more charming and flirty "dady look". I may go in depth into that at some point) . I like the textures: her cardigan and Alec's. I like the colours: cold like the weather still feels, but with a bit of warm coming, as seen in Ana's rosy cheeks.

I thought this could be a good photo to start the 30daychallenge. One photo a day! Great idea to get me back to take photos. But, knowing me, if I don't have boundaries, I digress, wander, meander and get loss in the world of options and possibilities. So, I decided to take this photo as the lead and link the next one with some of the colours or tones. Ah! also I've decided to take all the photos for the challenge in the same room. It gives me an excuse to spend more time in it. After all Room Alpha was always to be "my arty" room. Get that Alec?
